Root Baking Company is a Southern bakery and cafe specializing in European-style hearth breads, simple pastries, and vegetable-forward food, sourcing grains and ingredients from the southeast.
Root Baking Co. started in the Fall of 2015 in Charleston, SC as a wholesale bread bakery. Our mission: to honor the baking traditions of time and craft, nourish our neighbors with high quality baked goods, and embrace the diverse character of the Southern food landscape to enrich our community.
We moved Root Baking to Ponce City Market, in Atlanta, GA in the fall of 2018, and while we’ve added pastries and a savory food program to our bread lineup, our mission remains the same.
We believe in partnering with farmers and local/regional artisans to support our community in Atlanta, Georgia and the Southeast. We work with purveyors such as: Woodland Gardens Organics, Bartram Trail Farm, Woodsman and Wife Cheese, DaySpring Farms, Anson Mills, Geechie Boy Mill and more.
